Bernese Hip Symposium
- The Bernese Hip Symposium is perhaps one of the most prestigious scientific meetings in the field of hip preservation surgery. It is held biannually and has a faculty that brings together the most renowned and experienced experts in the field. We were invited to take part in the 2020 and 2023 editions of the meeting, presenting our experience in the treatment of sequelae of hip deformity in children and adolescents. These are areas where hip preservation has been greatly boosted by the development and improvement of the technique that allows the vascular structures that nourish the femoral head to be isolated, making it safe to completely separate the head from the femoral neck in order to correct deformities that would otherwise not be surgically treatable. This technical possibility is only indicated for adolescents and young adults. One of the advantages of participating as faculty in this Symposium is being able to share experience and discuss complicated clinical cases among highly experienced peers.
